Creative New York | Center for an Urban Future

July 1, 2015

The Center for an Urban Future published this extensive report on ‘Creative New York. We think this is an absolute must-read to understand the role of the arts and creative sector in the city’s economy.

The report shows that the city’s creative economy has grown enormously overpassing rival cities in the country. However, NYC is still crushingly expensive for the artists supporting this creative economy, making them move to other boroughs or even cities. The playwright and puppeteer Robin Frohardt says, “The speed at which rents are rising, there won’t be any artists here in 20 years.”
